About me

Addison Marshall is a Visual artist currently living and working in Sydney, Australia. His ceramic practice is about creating visual sensations that mixup ideas and materials. Hybrid works that manage to merge the influences of art, design, craft and fashion. A mode of thinking that is intrinsic to his being and is constantly reflected in his object making and visual art practice.

Addison states, "What really excites me is how I can contribute in order to take the ceramic medium to another level. I marvel at how unexpected combinations arise when two different disciplines or areas are forced together to creating something new, wonderful and unique."
His considered displays or arrangements aim to see how far the ceramic medium can be pushed, manipulated and taken to a point of conception that hasn't been thought of before.

Ways to challenge traditional modes of thinking that relate to ceramics and clay.
His creations offer the viewer multiple areas of investigation while demonstrating the potential, importance and relevance of the ceramic medium as a legitimate and wonderus 21st century art-form.

Addison has been the recipient of many awards including, The N.E Pethebridge Ceramic Award, (First); The Janet Mansfield Ceramic Award;  and The FONAS prize for Drawing. He was also a "Design Now" finalist for Object - Centre for Craft and Design in 2010.
